My job is playing football in front of thousands of people, sometimes millions and sometimes I carry the expectations of fans very heavily on my shoulders. To do this, to be able to go out there and perform, I have to believe that I am good, that I am better than the opposition, that I, along with my team mates can out-compete the other team. That is what sport is all about. I would be a blithering mess if I did not live this way. It is like Muhammad Ali he was always skiting about how good he was, but that was part of the confidence that made him such an incredible competitor—No, I am not an ego-maniac, I just have to shut off all the insecurities in myself and play to win.
